Repairing historic buildings requires a great deal of pre-planning in order to secure funding, delicate statutory approvals and materials which might require special fabrication or are dependent upon the seasons.

A vital part of this process is an early survey of the condition of the building and detailed drawings which help give realistic costs to the project and allow work to be prioritised where not everything can be done at once.

Peter Ayley was a scholar with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings in 1986 and can be consulted to help with the repair and adaptation of historic buildings.
