Igor Kufayev devised a concept for a very particular exhibition of paintings and artefacts which would effectively be a monument to civilization. Peter Ayley developed the concept into a structure whereby the gallery - a cube with four slit views into the interior, was housed within a hollow cone.

The monument is to be sited on a hilltop and is constructed from solid blocks of cast glass bedded in lime. The lower blocks are 100% recycled glass and the top block 100% new clear glass with a polished finish.

Intermediate courses are successively ‘clarified’ so that the sun shines through the structure and creates a very special light quality inside. The four cardinally orientated doorways are given a dressing of white alabaster.
