Designing things which are not going to be made is not a bad way of describing architectural education. Indeed the training forms a habit leading to all sorts of unexpected uninvited proposals.

The process continues in the subconscious and well trained designers will bring thoughts forward into drawings where they can be properly communicated, firstly to themselves, though also to others.

If it is valuable to draw utopias let us hope there is some political thinking involved. If it is valuable to draw forms which are unknown, let us hope that they are at least to be constructed with integrity.
